The phone reports one thing: the model
The phone and this website are two separate things, and below is what each of them stores. This is not a legal document but a plain description of what happens to data when you use CallByFace. If anything is unclear, ask in the forum and we will clarify the text here.
What CallByFace collects
Phone model
CallByFace reports which phone model and Android version it runs on. That is all. We use it to know which phones work, and to troubleshoot when something behaves oddly on a specific model.
What CallByFace never does
- No recording of calls, audio or video. The feature does not exist.
- No location data. CallByFace never asks for your position.
- No address book is sent to us. Contact names, numbers and photos stay locally on the phone.
- No ads, no selling of data, no sharing with third parties, no cross-app tracking.
What the website collects
The order form
Name, email and message, plus phone number and organisation if you fill them in. Stored so we can deliver the QR code and handle the purchase. Never used for newsletters or marketing.
Payment
Payments are handled by Stripe. Card details never reach us — we only see that an order is paid, with amount, currency and email address.
The forum
The account you create (email address and a display name you choose) and what you write. Posts are publicly readable. Your email address is never shown to anyone else.
Site analytics and cookies
We measure site statistics (Google Analytics and PostHog) to see which pages get read and whether orders go through. The measurement is cookie-free: it sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser between visits, so we cannot recognise you next time. That is why there is no consent banner. No advertising cookies, no profiling and no selling of data. If you are signed in to the forum, one technical cookie keeps you signed in — it is required to stay signed in.
Your rights
Deletion
Ask us in the forum or in a message and we remove your order, your forum account and your posts. We do not need a reason.
Data copy
You can request a copy of everything we have stored about you. We answer within 30 days.
Retention
Order details are kept while the licence is active, plus the period accounting rules require. Forum accounts and posts stay until you ask us to remove them.
Data controller
CallByFace is responsible for the data described here. Privacy questions go in the forum, in the thread about privacy and data.
